Memory Meadow
In the alpha Location · facts checked 2 November 2026
Memory Meadow is a wide meadow of tall, pale-gold grass at dawn, up the stone steps north of Nearfield Glade. It is where you replay lessons and try the ways to help. The game never charges for practice here, and practice never pays out a currency.
Description#
The user asked for the place to show a real brain function and chose the hippocampus, where experience becomes memory. The art borrows three ideas, as visual inspiration only:
- Worn trails in the grass: the paths used most are widest, like connections that grow stronger with use (long-term potentiation).
- Remembered stones: a few natural standing stones the player learns to recognise, like place cells.
- A curling stream in a C shape round one old tree, for the way the day is replayed at rest.
At its heart is a made thing, so its purpose reads without text. A rehearsal ring of mown turf has three choosing stones on its north rim: a teal eye for the Sentinel, a rose shield for the Warden and a gold linked pair for the Coordinator. Six lesson stones flank the arrival trail. A record stele with two lanterns stands at the foot of the old tree.
Residents#
Rill lives here in the alpha, near (540,248).
Services#
- Lessons: press E at the lesson stones to choose one of nine lessons. They use the real turn-based rooms, cost no endurance and never use your field supplies.
- Specialisation trial: the story scene I4 asks you to try the Sentinel or Warden lesson here, or keep your current class.
- The Coordinator practicum opens only after your first actual recruit. See Recruitment.
Connections#
The steps lead south to Nearfield Glade. Leaving and arriving happen in the world, never through inventory buttons (user, 1 November).
Development#
- Art: L12 was approved on 30 October, after the user rejected a formal training court (L01–L04) as too ordered.
- Rename: the user renamed Practice Grove to Memory Meadow on 31 October. The alpha shows the new name, but its internal map id is still
practice. - Refuge: on 31 October the user moved the Act V refuge here from Hearth, so event staging never covers the player's built home. The refuge, night and aftermath art was approved the same day. It is not in any build.
- Alpha: the lead fixed a travel deadlock in Placeholder
69c7b5470. The lead's browser test starts, plays and completes an actual lesson. - Live preview: the lead's audit reproduced a critical fault on the published site. Walking Hearth → Glade starts an outing, and the runtime then refuses the Meadow with "Return to Hearth before starting practice."
- Open: where tutorials first appear (first outing or Meadow) is deferred by the user to "a later talk". The eight advanced Studios drills are not connected.
