Nearfield Glade
In the alpha Location · facts checked 2 November 2026
Nearfield Glade is the first place outside home. It is a sunlit crossroads in the woods, where earth paths meet at an octagonal stone court with a tall lamp-topped waystone. Every route out of Hearth Grove passes through it.
Description#
The approved art is G13. The court sits at the centre, with two stone benches on its north side. Stands of trees fill each wedge between the paths. Each way out has its own look:
| Direction | What you see | Leads to |
|---|---|---|
| West | Worn earth path between lanterns, HEARTH sign | Hearth Grove |
| North | Four stone steps between wing walls | Memory Meadow |
| South-west | A narrow trail beside a three-stone cairn, no sign | Mote Pocket |
| East | Jointed pavers between stone gateposts, THREADWAY sign | Threadway |
| South-east | A trail into dendrite-like trees with glowing buds | Dendritic Gardens |
A raised moss hollow north-east of the steps was made for Bramble, a mentor from the v2 design. The character is not drawn in the art.
The v0.5 plan calls the Glade the early area "that changes most", in the spirit of Hollow Knight revisits. Its paths and patrols are meant to change with the story.
Residents#
Ambient microglia patrol the paths. The alpha adds an observation point, "Watch the incoming rhythm", near (290,174). The story scene I1 asks you to watch it and compare it with Mote Pocket.
Connections#
- Gardens path: press E at the trail to enter a Gardens encounter. Your loadout stays with you until you return to Hearth.
- Threadway road: press E at the east road to enter the 3D Threadway. Coming back, you arrive at (437,162).
- The story scene P4 ("The road beyond the bend") completes when you first follow the road into Threadway.
Development#
- Art: G13 was approved on 30 October. G14 (31 October) is G13 with the Gardens trail fading naturally into the woods; it is a proposal awaiting review.
- State art: environment art proposed before/after states on G14. After the user rejected a first round as too subtle, the unresolved state became the whole Glade turning yellow (user, 31 October: "all the trees should turn yellow, the ground too"). These states are proposals and are not in any build.
- Alpha: Placeholder
69c7b5470keeps the G13 background and connects all five exits physically. The lead removed the old expedition web panel, fixture task circles and the floating "Gardens · E" label from this route. - Live preview: the published site shows a "Threadway · under construction" notice, the old web panel and large floating gate labels. The lead's audit also found that the walk to Memory Meadow is refused there.
