Huddle is the Coordinator's passive. When a threat would hit you and your companion stands beside you, the companion takes the hit instead.
How it works#
- It fires in the resolve phase as a reaction.
- The companion loses 1 Composure, and you lose none.
- A Huddle hit counts as a telegraphed hit on the companion, so it raises Companion stress.
- It creates a tension: keep your companion close for protection, or send it away to work.
Animation#
A startled companion has no clip yet. The companion's rest clip stands in; Claude B suggests a short flinch made from acknowledge frames.
Development#
Huddle was an A-ranked skill in kit v1 (27 October). In v3 it overlapped with Brace, since both only absorbed jolts. Kit v5's idea that Huddle works with any friendly cell was not approved before recruitment. The turn version is in the alpha engine.
