Wick

Approved Character · facts checked 2 November 2026

Wick is an oligodendrocyte-lineage resident of the Quiet District. Wick has a practical repair goal and is not waiting for a hero. Wick's project began long before the strange signals and is not their secret cause.

Appearance#

Wick uses the approved oligodendrocyte body. The current design is a solid folded cushion; an earlier crescent design was rejected because it duplicated another character.

Personality#

Wick is patient at work and less patient when someone praises a clean-up that did not actually allow wrapping. Wick is annoyed when residents walk through a section before its edges are finished. Wick does not shame a player who stops the repair early.

Role in the story#

In The Five Stretches, each successful outing can restore one stretch of Wick's road. Five stretches open a ridge shortcut. The Ranger can clear material and protect the work, but only an oligodendrocyte-lineage cell can wrap. At two stretches Wick may receive a home invitation, which is not recruitment. Wick's old argument with Cress is the heart of The Stretch Between Neighbours.

Recruitment#

Never. Wick stays anchored to compatible tract work. Wick must never become a "portable myelin-casting pet", as the plan puts it.
