Epilogue: The Next Ordinary Day
Approved Story · facts checked 2 November 2026
The Epilogue: The Next Ordinary Day closes Arborwake: The Long Wake. It is not a cure and not a victory over stress. The community keeps what it could and carries on in a changed place.

This page describes the ending.
Scenes#
- E1. An inventory of changes that is not an inventory screen. The Ranger walks through Hearth. At least one real difference from the prologue is visible: a resident's new routine, a support contact, a repaired lane or Mote's record. Only earned changes appear.
- E2. Work that outlasts the emergency. The Ranger returns to the injured crossing. The urgent hazard is gone, but the route may still need support or time.
- E3. The familiar pause. At the north connection, the Evening Pair arrives in its actual recovered or supported state. If recovery is unfinished, it does not look magically normal.
Mote notes an ordinary delay. Pip asks whether it needs a report. Mote says no, not yet.
State-dependent details#
The ending reads the save. No cutscene shows Wick moving home if that never happened. No ending gathers every companion for a reunion. Fen appears only if the player grew the home. The Relay post appears only if it was built. The dossier calls this the "no phantom cast" rule.
After the story#
One saved world continues. Relationships, Quiet District repairs and optional research rooms stay open, and runs keep their variety. The singular injury is never re-staged.
Development#
- Plan: scenes E1–E3 are in plan v0.5 Part IV. The companion codas (M8, F8, PIP10) are in the dossier.
- The lead's 2 November reports list epilogue outcomes for every combination as unfinished host work.
- Nothing in the epilogue is in the alpha.
