The Names at the Edge is the local story of Bram, a border-associated macrophage at Vessel Margins. Vessa, Aster and Bram each use a different name for the same little bend. The story settles one shared name.
Steps#
| Step | Title | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| B0 | Three names for one place | The Ranger checks two real signs. A wrong name sends the marker to the wrong waypoint, but nothing is harmed. |
| B1 | A familiar cell in an unfamiliar report | Bram refuses to certify a report just because a cell is at the edge. "Identity not established" is a valid result. |
| B2 | The corrected border label | Bram and Vessa agree a site name. Completes the story. |
Reward#
The reward is the world, not equipment: a permanent label on the map, better report provenance, an optional science note that separates microglia, border-associated macrophages and recruited monocytes, and new ordinary conversations with Bram. There is no Imprint, no recruit and no paid helper. The dossier explains that a relationship can change the world without becoming part of the player's build.
Development#
- Design: dossier Part VIII-A. The science anchor is a 2024 review of border-associated macrophages.
- Bram was on the 31 October implementation scope.
- Claude A was asked to build a room for B1.
- In the alpha In the Placeholder alpha, Bram appears at Starwell only after scene II4, which is not reachable. The story does not start there.
