Quiet Tract (real-time)
Retired Encounter · facts checked 2 November 2026
The Quiet Tract was a real-time encounter family about myelin repair. A precursor cell (an OPC) followed the Ranger along a tract. You cleared myelin debris and "haze", then led the precursor to a bare segment so it could mature and wrap it.
How it worked#
- The tract ran from a source neuron to a far neuron, in segments.
- Debris and haze stopped the precursor from maturing.
- Leading the slow precursor reduced your own speed.
- Losing a segment failed the room. The user made this rule absolute on 27 October, after an earlier build let a room "complete" with segments lost.
Why it was replaced#
On 1 November the user said: "Oligos don't walk, they only extend." A walking, escorted precursor was wrong. The turn-based Quiet Tracts use an anchored oligodendrocyte that extends processes from where it sits. The "haze" that stalled precursors was also dropped, because Claude A could not verify it.
In the brain#
The family's science line: myelin can be rebuilt. Precursor cells mature and re-wrap bare axon segments, and clearing myelin debris lets the new wrapping finish. Repair takes weeks, not seconds.
Development#
Claude A built it on claude/expeditions. On 1 November the lead's local review slice opened it from the overworld, with a first visit on a reviewed seed, but that work was never committed. It is retired, and the code is kept as prototype history.
